Embryo Culture Medium
Special culture medium is used for supporting embryo development in laboratory environment. Fertilisation and embryo development will be completed inside the medium which is close to human body environment. In recent years, personalized embryo culture medium is used considering patient’s age, egg quality, previous treatment results and implantation failures.
The embryo detox method contributes to high quality embryo development by containing additional growth hormones that supports embryo development in medium.
Exclusive Incubators
Embryos develop in an environment where the temperature and humidity is stable for the embryos. Incubators mimic the environment of uterus. Changes in temperature, decrease in gas pressure and opening the incubators frequently have a negative impact on embryo development. All embryonic development stages are closely followed for each patient in different places. In this way, negative impacts on the embryo development will be prevented.
Embryo Imaging Systems (Observation of embryo development over time with a camera and selection of the most developed embryo)
Selecting embryos which are high quality and most likely to result in pregnancy is crucial for successful pregnancy. In order to achieve this goal, embryologists observe the embryos daily at least 2-3 times so they can choose the high quality embryo for embryo transfer. Embryos are observed under a microscope by evaluating morphological
qualities in embryology laboratory. The evaluation is regularly performed to check the stages of embryo development.
Indications that show changes in embryo quality can be negligible in traditional evaluation method. An embryo which is identified as high quality embryo before embryo transfer can complete its division abnormally before
embryo transfer day. Abnormal division may be a reason of getting negative pregnancy result. Time-lapse allows embryologists to monitor embryo cell divisions while they are still in the incubator. The system has a camera that continuously records the environment as a video of the embryo development. By visualising the progress of embryo development, the embryologist can eliminate abnormal embryos and select the best embryo for transfer.
Additionally, embryos will not take out from incubators from the beginning of microinjection (ICSI) to the transfer day since all the observations will be done by camera. With the help of it, embryos will not affected by the environment changes like temperature, humidity etc. Studies show that this continuously observation affect progress of embryo development positively.
This method can be used in cases of repeated implantation failure even if the patients get good quality embryo transferred and not having good quality embryo during treatment. This will also help to identify the problem why
the embryo cannot develop and protect good embryos by providing better environment.
Cumulus Cell Co-Culture (Adaptation of embryos to the uterine environment/Embryo support)
Under normal conditions, while sperm cell is fertilizing egg cell, cumulus cells surround egg cell to support it. Cumulus cells accompany and support embryo during the implantation to the uterine wall. These cumulus cells are also called as embryo support cells. But in laboratory conditions, the egg cell is removed from these cells in order to
perform microinjection.
The purpose of removing these cells is to identify egg quality properly and perform microinjection in the right conditions. Studies show that secretion of cumulus cells affects embryo development positively. Thus, during IVF treatment in cases which embryo quality is not good or repeated implantation failures occur can get benefit of cumulus cells.
Instead of not using the cumulus cells, embryologists grow them in a special medium for mimicking the natural environment. After microinjection they put egg cells and these cells together. Laboratory conditions are similar to environment of the uterus. Therefore, we get embryos which are high quality and have potential to implant
successfully comparing to previous attempts.
Studies on Cumulus Cell Co-culture have been conducted in our clinic for years. A study of over 400 patients who have recurrent pregnancy loss history indicates that the number of high quality embryos and pregnancy
rates increased with Cumulus Cell Co-culture method. This method is especially can be used in cases of poor embryo quality, repeated implantation failures, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, chocolate cyst and get successful outcomes with the suitable treatment.
Embryo Culture (Embryo Detox)
Embryos develop under laboratory conditions in special culture medium. This medium contains all the necessary ingredients needed for embryo development. Despite this fact; poor embryo quality, implantation failure ormiscarriages can be seen during the treatment.
In such cases, embryo development can be observed in special medium that contains growth factors. Growth factor plays an important role in embryo development. These factors are special supporters that stimulate cell growth, multiplication, recovery and affect on differentiation of cells. One of the factors that helps implantation of
the embryo and stimulates cell multiplication is GM-CSF which is also called as Granulocyte- Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor. GM-CSF is synthesized in the female reproductive tract.
Embryos have receptors to interactwith GM-CSF. GM-CSF mediates embryo and uterine wall. Additionally, it improves blastocyst development and implantation. As a result success of the pregnancy rates and live birth rates increase, and miscarriage rates decrease.
This method meets the optimal conditions for embryo development. Therefore it is used in cases of repeated implantation failure, poor embryo quality, advanced age, poor ovarian reserve, frozen embryo transfer and also
having miscarriages in the early stages of the pregnancy. Studies conducted in our clinic shows that using medium containing GM-CSF increase the success rate of the pregnancies by 44%.
PRP Procedure
PRP application is the process of giving plasma enriched from the thrombocyte obtained from patients’ own blood by centrifugation method to the endometrial tissue or ovary at the specified time and manner. This procedure is done under/without monitored anesthesia depending on the treatment protocol with a catheter or a needle.
Ovarian PRP procedure is for women who have low ovarian reserve who produce less eggs or can’t produce eggs, with irregular periods or amenore, PCOS cases, having less quality egss and bad quality embryos. Endometrium PRP procedure is applied to a special area under the intrauterine membrane in order to improve the endometrial receptivity of the uterine lining in cases of Repeated implantation failure and women with a history of failing to develop an adequate uterine lining.
