CHECK-UP
Should You Have A
Check-Up?
This helps to identify the risks that can cause a disease. It plays an important role in early diagnosis.
How is Check-up Performed? How long does it take?
For check-up, you first should make an appointment from a hospital or medical center where check-up is available. Your check-up doctor will ask you questions about medications you take and your past history of diseases. Accordingly, scope of the check-up is determined and the doctor informs the patient about drugs that should be used or stopped, if any, before the check-up visit.
Patients should stop eating and drinking for a certain period of time (8 to 10 hours) before presenting for check-up; when the center is visited, blood and urine samples are collected along with electrocardiogram (ECG) and radiology studies, such as chest X-ray and abdominal ultrasound. Age- and gender-specific tests can also be ordered, such as mammography and PSA test. Endoscopic examinations can be planned for patients older than 50.
Duration of check-up may vary according to content of panel. Your results are reported on the same day of examinations and/or following days depending on the items included in the panel.
When You Should Have Check-up?
It is best to have a check-up once a year, starting at adult ages, even if you do not have any complaints or concerns. Annual check-up is important to help the physician compare the results of previous years and observe interval changes in your health status and risks.

Preparation for Check-up
Since certain examinations you will have require preparation, please consider following recommendations. If our advice is fulfilled, all processes will flow smoothly, your waiting time for examinations will be minimized and accuracy of results will be maximized.
Potential changes in program depending on your preparation status and the workload of departments will be notified to you by check-up consultants on the procedure day.
You need to stop eating and drinking for approximately 12 to 14 hours before blood sampling for laboratory tests. Patients can drink water; however, they should not smoke, consume sugar, chew gum and eat or drink caffeinated foods and drinks. We kindly request that child patients are brought after a fasting period as long as possible.
Patients should not consume alcohol and should eat light foods at dinner one day before the check-up.
If abdominal ultrasound is included in your program, you should be hungry, and your bladder should be full (there should be an urge to urinate). Therefore, we recommend you start drinking water at the appropriate time that will be specified by check-up consultants and do not urinate after you start drinking water on the day of procedures.
If there is Exercise ECG test in the panel, you are recommended to bring towel, backup undershirt and gym clothes and shoes.
If mammography is ordered for female patients, we recommend taking a shower and do not use cream, perfume and similar materials. It is appropriate to perform the test in Day 3 to Day 10 of the menstrual period.
You can continue using your regular medications, if any, before the check-up. Do not forget informing your physician about medications you take in the check-up encounter.
We ask you to bring your previous test reports, if any.
